The first denounces America&#8217;s &#8220;negro-hate&#8221; and its effort &#8220;to drive the colored man from within the pale of human society.&#8221; The second, by Rev. Authur Dearing urges readers to civil disobedience, because the Fugitive Slave Act is contrary to Natural Rights.
